Norman N. Miller, Jr. is a 1980 graduate of Hamilton High School. Mr. Miller attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia and Christian Brothers College (Now Christian Brothers University) in Memphis, Tennessee. He was unable to finish college due to an addiction to alcohol and drugs. On November 18, 1986 he entered a drug rehab to address his addiction problem. As a result of God’s grace and his involvement in a 12 step program Norman has been clean and sober for 34 years.
Norman is the founder and Executive Director of Innovative Counseling and Consulting, Inc., a behavioral health organization in Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Miller has 33 years of experience in the substance abuse/mental health field. He is licensed by the Tennessee Dept. of Health as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (1990) and the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors as a National Certified Addiction Counselor (1991). He recently received his certification as a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC)(2020). He is also a qualified clinical supervisor.
Norman has served in the capacities of counselor, program director, executive director, and consultant. He has provided training on a local, state, and regional level regarding the impact of addiction on individuals, families, businesses and the community.
Norman served on the advisory board to Shelby State Community College (now Southwest Community College) substance abuse program during its inception. He is the past president of the West Tennessee Chapter of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (1988-1990). He is currently the President of the Board of the Tennessee Association of Alcohol, Drug, & Other Addiction Services in Nashville, Tennessee (2019-2021).
In 2017, Norman received the Life time achievement award from the West Tennessee Chapter of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors for his extraordinary contributions to the addiction profession. Also, that same year the State Chapter of the Tennessee Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors presented him with the Lifetime Achievement Award in Recognition of his Strong Dedication to the field of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
He is a devoted family man. He has been happily married to Sue Miller for 31 years and has two children, Courtney age 29 and Kyle age 26.
